New Appointments

Once we receive your doctor’s referral, we will contact you to make an appointment. You will be sent a Patient Registration Form, which you may also download here.

Please bring the following items with you:

  • Your completed patient registration form
  • Your Medicare card
  • Your private health insurance or DVA card
  • Your medications in their packaging, or a complete list including doses
  • Copies of your medical letters and test results
  • Copies of your previous electrocardiograms (ECGs)

Consultations

Initial Consultations

An initial consultation will last 30 minutes and may include an ECG. Please arrive 5-10 min early for your appointment. A consultation letter will be sent to your referring doctor. A follow-up appointment will be arranged if necessary.

Follow-Up Consultations

Follow-up consultations generally last 15 minutes. Any changes in your treatment plan will be communicated to your referring doctor.

Cancelling an Appointment

Please contact us at least one day ahead if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Calling ahead to cancel allows us to offer your time to another patient.

Discharge from the Heart Rhythm Clinic

Once your course of treatment is complete, your care will be returned to your referring doctor or GP. If you need reassessment at our clinic, please request another referral from your specialist or GP.

Repeat Scripts

Your GP or referring doctor will normally arrange these for you.

Financial Arrangements

Private consultations

Please settle your account on the day of your appointment by credit card or EFTPOS. For your safety and others’, we no longer accept cash. Concessional rates are offered to pensioners and concession card holders. We will submit a medicare claim on your behalf where applicable. If you feel you are unable to meet the gap payment, please inform us. We will arrange for you to be seen in the public hospital setting.

Procedures

Procedures within a Private Hospital

If you have private health insurance with hospital cover, your health fund is likely to cover most costs involved in having your procedure performed in a private hospital. You will also avoid the waitlist normally faced for public hospital procedures. Prior to your procedure, we will provide verbal notification of the billing arrangement. A surgical fee estimate will not be provided where your operator charges no gap. Any anaesthetic out-of-pocket fees will be detailed by your anaesthetic team. Depending on your level of cover, you may incur an excess fee payable to your health fund.

Procedures within a Public Hospital

While at times there may be a significant waitlist for public hospital procedures, your procedure will be prioritized according to clinical need. All our doctors have public hospital appointments. Wherever possible, your treating doctor will be the same doctor performing your procedure.

Personal Information
